Lakeshore Friends—

The reaction to the Upping Your Emotional IQ series has been nothing short of encouraging after just one week.  All the pastors felt strongly that this series would be well received, but I never expected so many texts, emails, and comments from people who recognize the wrongful place they’ve allowed ungodly anger to have in their lives.

This Sunday we’ll be looking at the emotion fear.  While fear is not an emotion that we often enjoy, it is incredible how many people allow it to drive and consume their lives.   In this week’s message we’ll unpack how unhealthy fear causes problems with our health and draws us away from God, and we’ll give you some tools to help you face your fears together with God.

Lakeshore Friends—

I hope you had a great Father’s Day and that your time at Lakeshore played a major role in that.  It was really fun to see so many people in services, celebrating and cheering on dads, taking pictures in the Atrium photo spot, getting free Lugia’s ice cream, getting a copy of “The C-team” (if you signed up for a copy after we ran out, we will let you know when they arrive), enjoying coffee outside under the tent, and so much more.

All the energy on Sunday reminds me (again!) that few things are as amazing and beautiful as the church when it operates with a healthy biblical foundation.  I also think that God has given us so many amazing people like you who want to live healthy biblical lives.  The two usually go together.

All that to say thank you for making Lakeshore such a fun place to be every Sunday!  When I leave after Sunday services, I feel so full of thankfulness because God is so good and He has sent us so many amazing people.

Warmly,
Vince

Lakeshore Friends—

Being a fantastic father in the world today is hard and our identity is under a severe attack.  With all due respect to the very real challenges that women face, men are facing stiff challenges that we never have before.  Masculinity is under a massive assault everywhere.  Culture increasingly tries to restrict men from leading their family, from acting differently than women through the myth of androgyny, and from doing what God called us to do— namely to protect and provide for our family.

Yes, there are men who have painted a pretty sorry picture of manhood, but there are many men who want what’s best for their family, their community, and the world.  Men who are devoted to Jesus are at the top of the list, and we don’t want to (and even won’t) accept these attacks to our identity.  For those of us in this camp, that’s a good thing.

As we approach Father’s Day on Sunday, we will honor every man in our church during part of our service.  We will also have some special treats for everyone including a Lugia’s Ice Cream truck and some nice classic cars in our back parking lot.  We want to celebrate manhood and fatherhood because our Father in heaven does.

So if you want to be affirmed and built up men, be at church with your family as we celebrate you for who you are as men.

Thanks guys for standing up for manhood and for being great men, fathers, and husbands.  We support and stand with you!

Warmly,

Vince
