God is moving in Rochester, and we’re seeing more people come to church—and even more importantly, come to faith in Jesus. That’s why we’re so excited to Make Room for what God is doing in Rochester! We’re creating space for more people to discover and develop a growing relationship with Jesus, for families to grow in faith and connection, and for our church to reach even more people in Rochester with the gospel.

We are doing this by offering more opportunities for people to hear about Jesus on Sundays, responding to the growth we are seeing in Lakeshore Students on Wednesdays, and creating weekly opportunities for you to serve on a team.

Have questions about Lakeshore moving to 3 services in September? We've got answers!

Why do we need to go to 3 services?

Our attendance numbers year over year, as well as our 10-week average, are continuing to increase; we are seeing more and more people attending church. We are choosing to make a change before the need for room becomes great- this way visitors are not coming to a crowded church, feel lost or disconnected, or think we don't have space for them. We want them here, and we are making room to prove it.

Is 3 services a "try it out and see" or is it a permanent change?

The desire is to make this a permanent change. We are committing to one year of this schedule, and we can reevaluate if necessary.

Is the style of service changing between the 3 services?

No. All 3 services will be the same in style and length- the same type of worship and feel as always, with each service lasting about one hour.

Will there be kids programming at all 3 services?

Yes, there will be kids classes at all 3 services, newborn through 5th grade. However, the age groupings of kids may not look the same at all services.

What time do kids need to be in their rooms for Lakeshore Kids?

Kids classes will be open for drop-off 10 minutes before the start of each service (8:20, 9:50, 11:20). Kids need to be picked up right after service so teachers have time to prepare the classroom before the next service starts.

Is there Lakeshore Kids during Midweek Bible Study?

Yes! There are classes available during Midweek for kids newborn through 5th grade.

Why will there not be Lakeshore Students programs on Sundays for 6-12th graders?

Research shows that students who become an active part of the larger church during middle and high school are more likely to carry their faith into adulthood. That’s why we want Sundays to be an intergenerational experience where students worship, learn, and grow alongside the rest of the church. Our goal is to help them build a faith that lasts.

What are some ways students can be involved?

Students can serve on many of our volunteer teams! First Timothy 4:12 reminds us that being young doesn’t keep someone from making an impact. We have meaningful opportunities for both middle and high school students to use their gifts and be part of what God is doing at Lakeshore.

I'm new and have come on a Sunday with my 6-12th graders. How do I learn more about students?

Stop by the Next Steps area after service! One of our volunteers would be happy to tell you more about Lakeshore Students and connect you with our Student Pastor. You can also visit lakeshorechurch.org/students for everything you need to know.

Are the messages on Sunday appropriate for my 6-12th grader?

Our Sunday messages cover topics that are relevant to people in every stage of life. We also believe an important part of helping students grow in their faith is giving them opportunities to engage with God’s Word alongside adults.

Will there still be prayer with the Prayer Team at the stage in between services?

Yes. The Prayer Team will still be available for prayer in between services.

When are the Discover Classes going to be?

Discover Classes will be held after 3rd service on their scheduled dates; lunch will be served at 12:45 with classes beginning at 1pm.

When is Communion happening?

Communion will become part of the regular worship service on specific weeks.

When will the café be open?

The café will be open after each service.

Are Wednesday night small groups changing?

Some scheduled Wednesday night groups will change depending on their schedule and location- make sure to check with the small group leader for details about each group.

Is anything changing with how Baptisms are scheduled?

Baptisms will continue to happen in service; Discover Baptism class will take place on the 2nd Sunday of the month during 2nd service, at 10am.

Is anything changing with the parking lot?

Our Parking Team is working on making a new parking pattern for all our guests and attendees to be able to get into and out of the lot smoothly. We'll be communicating more info at the end of the Summer.
