Throughout this series, we have examined what Jesus would say to us about contemporary circumstances, situations, and people. But what would Jesus say to us personally about the way we should live today? We’ll see how Jesus challenged people to change the way they lived when they were living overtly sinful lifestyles and also how He encouraged people to live when they were doing the right thing that aligned with God’s word, His will, and His ways. As we conclude this series we will be reminded again of how Jesus Christ the righteous Son of God instructed us to live today in these difficult and tenuous times.

If Jesus Were To Tell Us What He Thought About How We’re Living, What Would He Say?

1) If this world is your focus, ___PREPARE FOR DISAPPOINTMENT___.

“Jesus said to them: ‘Watch out that no one deceives you. Many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am he,’ and will deceive many. When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places, and famines. These are the beginning of birth pains. You must be on your guard.’”

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

2) Wisdom and security only come from ___LIVING GOD’S WORD___.

“Anyone who listens to my teaching and obeys me is wise, like a person who builds his house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the flood waters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse, because it is built on rock. But anyone who hears my teaching and ignores it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will fall with a mighty crash.”

“My sheep recognize my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one will snatch them away from me.”

3) The most valuable commodity isn’t ___MONEY, IT’S YOUR SOUL___.

“What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?”

“Your heavenly Father already knows all your needs, and he will give you all you need from day to day if you live for him and make the Kingdom of God your primary concern.”

4) Your lifestyle should always ___PUT JESUS ABOVE EVERYTHING___.

“Great crowds were following Jesus. He turned around and said to them, ‘If you want to be my follower you must love me more than your own father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters— yes, more than your own life. Otherwise, you cannot be my disciple. And you cannot be my disciple if you do not carry your own cross and follow me… So no one can become my disciple without giving up everything for me.’”

“Then Jesus said, ‘Come to me, all who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.’”

5) You must each decide ___WHICH ROAD YOU’LL FOLLOW___.

“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
(John 3:16, NIV)
