Words We All Long To Hear

Defrosting Communication, part 6 of 7
Deep inside all of us, we long to hear words from others that will help us. There are words that people can speak that will add tremendous power and encouragement into our hearts and souls. When we understand these words we all long to hear, we can deliver them and sense the joy of encouraging another person. We can also receive them and sense the joy of being encouraged by others. In this message we will look at four phrases we all long to hear from others and wrap up by explaining how these phrases are also words that God longs to hear from us.

Communicating The Words We All Long To Hear

I) WORDS OF ADMISSION: “___I WAS WRONG___.”

“The man who refuses to admit his mistakes can never be successful. But if he confesses and forsakes them, he gets another chance.”
(Proverbs 28:13, LB)

“Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so you may be healed.”
(James 5:16a, NIV)

* Revealing is the start of ___HEALING___.

II) WORDS OF CONTRITION: “___I AM SORRY___.”

“For you became very sorrowful as God intended and so were not harmed in any way by us. Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death. See what this godly sorrow has produced in you: what earnestness, what eagerness to clear yourselves…”

“A broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.”
(Psalm 51:17b, NIV)

* A tender heart will get you through a __TOUGH SITUATION__.

III) WORDS OF HUMILITY: ” _PLEASE FORGIVE ME_. “

“Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”
(Ephesians 4:31-32, NIV)

“All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, ‘God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.’”
(1 Peter 5:5b, NIV)

* When you’re willing to release your “rights”, you have the best chance of __MAKING THINGS RIGHT__.

IV) WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT: ” __I LOVE YOU__. “

“If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself,’ you are doing right.”
(James 2:8, NIV)

“Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.”
(1 Peter 4:8, NIV)

* Love is the ___LUBRICANT___ that keeps relationships running smooth.

“Therefore encourage each other with these words.”
(1 Thessalonians 4:18, NIV)
