The Power Of Doing Good
Living Beyond Myself, part 4 of 4
Whenever we make the sacrifice to serve others in the church and in the world incredible things happen. There is a tremendous power that comes along with doing good. Doing good has the power to impact the people we are serving. It has the power to honor God in our lives. But perhaps one of the most surprising things it has the power to do good in our own soul when we have confidence that we are helping and serving others. In this talk we are going to see how the greatest human that ever lived, Jesus Christ, the God-Man, made the sacrifice to wash the disciples feet and model for us the tremendous power that comes that comes along with serving others so that He might encourage us by being a model to do the same. In this talk we’ll wrap up the series and encourage people to continue to pursue the ministries that they expressed interest in at the ministry expo.

Question: is there power in doing good?
I. Hat? The call of doing good
Be ready and devoted to the cause of doing good.
“Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do good, to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and to show true humility toward all men.” (Titus 3:1, NIV)
“And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone.” (Titus 3:8b, NIV)
“Our people must learn to devote themselves to doing what is good, in order that they may provide for daily necessities and not live unproductive lives.” (Titus 3:14, NIV)
II. Why? The reason for doing good
We are alive and created for the purpose of doing good.
“For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (Ephesians 2:10, NIV)
III. Where? The place for doing good
Wherever you and a need you can meet intersect.
“‘But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him…Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?’ The expert in the law replied, ‘The one who had mercy on him.’ Jesus told him, ‘Go and do likewise. ‘” (Luke 10:33, 36-37, NIV)
IV. How? The guidance for doing good
However the Holy Spirit guides you to do good.
“Those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.” (Romans 8:14, NIV)
V. Who? The results of doing good
People are impacted and God is glorified.
“In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. “ (Matthew 5:16, NIV)
