The LC2 Is Now Open!

The Lakeshore Community Center (LC2) Grand Opening on January 10 was one for the ages! After nearly 5 years of planning, 2 capital campaigns, lots of prayer and hard work, we celebrated the opening of this brand new addition of about 20,000 square feet. We hosted about 50 dignitaries at the ceremony held after the second service, including area political figures and pastors. The story was covered by all five local TV stations, the Democrat and Chronicle (twice), and the Greece Post. It was a great day for those of us who love this church and for those who will attend in the days and years ahead but don’t know it yet. All of our prayers and sacrifices are now being rewarded as we see the facility being put to use. You can see some of the pictures from the day by clicking here.

At the Grand Opening, I was struck by the energy in this place, particularly in the children and youth. I believe that the LC2 is the most visionary thing we have done to date because it will help us attract kids who need (and are most open to) the Lord. We’re better positioned to reach more kids than ever. And the new space will help us reach out to more families in our community who need God’s love. And yes, those of us who attend will benefit too!

So let’s all give thanks to God for this historic day! And for those of you who have made financial sacrifice for this project, thank you. There is still more work to be done in the months ahead like finishing the kitchen, constructing and furnishing the Waves Café, constructing two storage buildings behind the Multipurpose Room, developing the landscape for the courtyard, patio area and front of the building, and technology projects in both the Auditorium and the Multipurpose Room. Your generosity over the next two years will make this all possible.

Let’s finish the work together… for our children, our community, our church, and the great commission.
