Influence: Being A Leader Where You Are
Leadership Matters, part 3 of 10
After Nehemiah received permission and support to travel to Jerusalem he wisely surveys the walls of Jerusalem at a time when potential enemies would be less suspicious of him. By setting out at night with a few other men, he carefully does what every great leader does, strives to understand the problem. After he gets a full grasp of the challenge, he comes back to others and does what leaders always do, brings influence to other people to rally them around the cause. We see how Nehemiah applies his leadership influence to others and rallies the people to this great cause by giving them faith, not in themselves, but in the God who was leading this effort. In effect, Nehemiah was being a leader right where he was. We’ll learn principles on how to lead people right where we are in everyday life situations.

“Jesus called them together and said, ‘You know that the rulers in this world … flaunt their authority over those under them. But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant.’”

(Nehemiah 2:11-13a)

c) With motivation – inevitable __OPPOSITION______
1) Address, but don’t __ENGAGE OR ARGUE WITH___ outside critics.
