Congratulations, You’re Gifted!
Spir-IT, part 5 of 6
Have you ever wondered why the people around you are so different from you? Even in church, many times the perspectives of others are so radically different from your own that it can be almost nauseating at times to wander through. While we know that God has created us all uniquely with different personalities, perspectives, talents, and abilities…He has also “gifted” his followers with unique abilities that flow directly from his Spirit. In this message, we’ll be examining what some of these SPIRITual gifts are, why they’ve been given, and how we can use them to bolster our ‘IT’ factor.
“We are all one body, we have the same Spirit, and we have all been called to the same glorious future…he has given each one of us a special gift according to the generosity of Christ.”
(Ephesians 4:4-7, NLT)
I) THE HOLY SPIRIT: UNIQUELY GIFTING US
Why Can’t We All Just Be The Same?
1) Theou Holy Spirit wants His people to be ___EMPOWERED___.
“But when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, you will receive power and will tell people about me everywhere…”
(Acts 1:8, NLT)
2) The Holy Spirit wants His people to be ___COMMUNAL___.
“Suppose the whole body were an eye – then how would you hear? Or if your whole body were just one big ear, how could you smell anything?”
(I Coorinthians 12:17, NLT)
“If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it, and if one part is honored, all the parts are glad.”
(I Corinthians 12:26, NLT)
3) The Holy Spirit wants His people to be ___MATURED___.
“…until we come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature and full grown in the Lord, measuring up to the full stature of Christ.”
(Ephesians 4:13, NLT)
II) THE HOLY SPIRIT AND THE “IT”FACTOR
* People who have “IT” passionately ___SERVE___ from their unique Spir-IT-ual gift mix.
“God has given gifts to each of you from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Manage them well so that God’s generosity can flow through you.”
(I Peter 4:10, NLT)
III) SERVING FROM YOUR SWEET SPOT
Making It Through The Messy Process
1) Commit to ___DISCOVERING__ your spiritual gift(s).
“God has given each of us the ability to do certain things well.”
(Romans 12:6a, NLT)
2) Invest yourself in _DEVELOPING_ your spiritual gift(s).
“So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out when you have faith that God is speaking through you. If your gift is that of serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, do a good job of teaching. If your gift is to encourage others, do it! If you have money, share it generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.”
(Romans 12:6b-8, NLT)
3) Seek out opportunities in __DEPLOYING__ your spiritual gift(s).
“Do not neglect the spiritual gift you received…”
(I Timothy 4:14, NLT)
