One Month To Live, part 5 of 5
Everyone desires to leave a lasting imprint in life. To leave a legacy that will out last them. How does that happen? When we learn to live the final key principle of the One Month to Live lifestyle which is to leave boldly. To leave this world with a life that has made a difference for God’s honor and for people’s benefit. One of the great fears of life is not just dying, but leaving this life as if we’ve never lived at all In this talk we will provide principles to live by so that we develop a prefect exit strategy.
“For I live in eager expectation and hope that I will never do anything that causes me shame, but that I will always be bold for Christ, as I have been in the past, and that my life will always honor Christ whether I live or I die. For to me, living is for Christ, and dying is even better.”
(Philippians 1:20-21, NLT)
I) OUR LIVES: WE’RE BUILDING SOMETHING
1) Building a life around OURSELVES: Very temporary!
“The ground of a certain rich man produced a good crop… ‘I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones…I’ll say to myself, ‘You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.” But God said, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’ This is how it will be with anyone who stores up things for himself but is not rich toward God.”
(Luke 12:16-21, NIV)
2) Building a life around A LEGACY: Eternally rewarding!
“If any man builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, this work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each man’s work. If what he has built survives, he will receive his reward.”
(1 Corinthians 3:12-14, NIV)
II) OUR LEGACY: A PERFECT EXIT STRATEGY
1) Leave a legacy of godly CONVICTIONS with your family.
“A good name is more desirable than great riches.”
(Proverbs 22:1a, NIV)
“Oh, that their hearts would be inclined to fear me and keep all my commands always, so that it might go well with them and their children forever!… Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up…Write them on the doorframes of your houses.”
(Deuteronomy 5:29, 6:6-7&9, NIV)
“Blessed are all who fear the Lord, who walk in his ways. You will eat the fruit of your labor, blessings and prosperity will be yours. Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your sons will be like olive shoots around your table.”
(Psalm 128:1-3, NIV)
2) Leave a legacy of generous COMMUNITY with your friends.
“May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.”
(John 17:23b, NIV)
“Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.”
(1 Peter 4:10, NIV)
“I tell you, use worldly wealth to gain friends for yourselves, so that when it is gone, you will be welcomed into eternal dwellings.”
(Luke 16:9, NIV)
3) Leave a legacy of genuine COMMITMENT with your faith.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day— and not only me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.”
(2 Timothy 4:7-8, NIV)
“To all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.”
(John 1:12, NLT)
III) OUR LEAVING: THE ETERNAL REWARDS
“Generation after generation stands in awe of Your work.”
(Psalm 145:4a, The Message)
“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!”
(Matthew 25:21, NIV)
“Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.”
(2 Corinthians 5:1, NIV)
until you’re ready to leave!”
