General Ministry & Job Description

To lead and develop people to higher levels of excellence on the Music Team for Sunday morning and midweek services with leadership that honors God and fulfills the overall mission, vision and purpose statements of Lakeshore Community Church.

Position Responsibilities & Vision

  • Lead and develop people for the musical portions of Sunday morning seeker-sensitive and midweek believer services. This is to be accomplished through the development of individuals and teams, so that on Sunday mornings the seeker experiences the relevance of Christianity while the believer experiences a sampling of authentic, fresh and relevant worship; and at the midweek service the believer experiences a full dose of authentic, fresh and relevant worship.
  • Provide oversight to the Music Team members, meetings, activities, and projects, so that these areas of ministry are developed with qualified key leaders who are capable of sharing the ministry responsibilities and further develop the team. This will include oversight of the musical portions of church events such as weddings, funerals, etc. as required.
  • Report to the Creative Arts Pastor and work on the Programming Team, which as a whole is responsible for the planning and execution of high-quality, high-tech, relevant, creative, thematic services. These services are to communicate God's truth so that the deepest part of people's hearts may be reached and produce life-change.

Personal Abilities & Skills

  • An accomplished vocalist who leads worship from the guitar and is comfortable in front of large and small groups.
  • Accomplished at singing and playing guitar for many styles particularly fresh and relevant Christian and Secular music including such genres as Rock, Pop, Alternative, Gospel, R&B, and Jazz..
  • A proven leader who is capable of organizing, equipping, and inspiring band members and vocalists to reach higher levels of excellence..
  • A Bachelor of Music is required..
  • Ability to arrange and chart music well using notation software such as Finale..
  • Ability to relate to people of various temperaments/church backgrounds and work with them well..
  • Ability to build teams of responsible people through personal recruitment. .
  • Strong confidence in public and platform settings..
  • Organizational and administrative abilities to coordinate many volunteers..
  • Creative abilities to regularly think "outside the box" and often times throw the box away..
  • Must be a self-starter willing to accept responsibility for the success of the ministry.
  • Spiritual Gifts & Passion Areas (in no particular order).

    Personal Qualifications

    Personal, vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ for at least five years. Pursuing a daily quiet time with God. A life marked by personal integrity. Willing to become a member of Lakeshore, meeting and exceeding all member requirements. Exposure and active involvement in a seeker-sensitive or seeker-targeted church for at least 1 year is preferred. Bible College or Seminary education is preferred but not required. A deep heart for lost people and seeker-oriented ministry.
