Position Description & Vision
To lead and oversee pastoral care needs within the church, effectively lead and develop people to higher levels of spiritual growth and maturity through an emphasis on “New Horizons 201” disciplines (quiet time, stewardship, small groups), serve as Small Group Director, develop assimilation and discipleship strategies for new guests and new believers, and teach at some services— primarily Midweek services.
Position Responsibilities
* Develop into a primary teacher for the in-depth Common Ground Midweek believer service (twice/month) and occasionally teach at the “seeker-sensitive” Sunday morning services. Teach and/or oversee Community Group Training, Baptism Orientation, Good Sense, New Horizons 201 seminars.
* Oversee Pastoral Care needs of the church in individual counseling, general care needs, pre-marriage groups, Celebrate Recovery program, and oversee one part-time Associate Spiritual Care Director staff member.
* Lead, recruit, coach and oversee Community Groups and group leaders so the number of groups and participants grows and small group leaders grow and are reproducing new groups that assimilate new attendees.
* Develop discipleship strategies and systems that help people grow spiritually and become “grounded” in the basics, building off of the existing First Steps and Second Steps Community Groups for people who are new believers.
* Develop assimilation strategies to follow up with new attendees and new believers so they get plugged in to LCC.
* Oversee Global Impact missions effort and develop a team to connect with all supported missionaries.
* Assist Pastoral Staff in performing marriage and funeral ceremonies, hospital visitation and baptism service events.
* Continually build the ministry with qualified people so that more responsibilities are shared by capable leaders.
Personal Abilities & Skills
* A heart to meet the needs of people at Lakeshore so people can receive counsel and other forms of pastoral care.
* Strong giftedness and confidence in public teaching, preaching and various forms of communication.
* Organizational and administrative abilities to plan effective events and coordinate many volunteers.
* Proven skills in Community (Small) Groups— in areas of leading, coaching and philosophy of ministry.
* Ability to build and maintain teams of responsible people through personal recruitment and coaching of others.
* Strong ability to work with and disciple people of various temperaments, gifts, passions, and church backgrounds.
* Experience with the pastoral skills of marriage officiating, funerals, Biblical counseling, etc.
* A consistent self-starter willing to accept responsibility for success of their ministry.
* Desire to work closely with people and staff and develop meaningful friendships with them.
* Creative abilities to regularly think “outside the box” and be a moderate “risk taker”.

Personal Qualifications
* Extremely teachable spirit and attitude.
* Personal, vibrant, growing biblical relationship with Jesus Christ for at least five years.
* A life marked by personal integrity.
* Willing to become a member of Lakeshore, meeting and exceeding all member requirements.
* Exposure or involvement in a seeker-sensitive or seeker-targeted church and a heart for lost people.
* Past track-record of successful ministry experience.
* Bible College or Seminary Education is very preferred.
